 Welcome! A big plus on what dredman said! I use to practice at a old mall parking lot until they chained it off. Not because of me, other folks where using it as a short cut. Most police officer's are pretty cool with it as long as there is no;
1 Drinking of alcohol. (never a good idea while operating any machinery)
2. No wheelies/stoppies/hot dogging. It is Gymkhana, not stunting.

 When they show just be honest about what your doing. Practicing on your control of your motorcycle.  :D Most are amazingly cool about it. Pick up the trash before you leave, drink bottles, food wrapper's, etc.

 Big plus on friends to share with.

 I would be there, but I'm in Alabama.  :)

 I just want to say that I'm glad y'all have a place to practice now. Do not stop inviting folks. Most will not show but y'all will pick up a couple, then a few more, and before y'all know it it will be a crowd!

 Have a great practice!

 Welcome! Like Dredman said, great intro and history of BattleTrax. I remember reading about it in the 90's. Sounded like a cool event and I always wondered what happened to it.

 I would like to point out that Gymkhana is not a rip-off of BattleTrax. Gymkhana was mostly a Japan thing since the 1960's. (there is a member here from England who can give you a broader history of Gymkhana) With the internet it has spread out. That is how we found it. A couple of videos were posted in another forum that we belong to, Bamarides. A few of us got to talking about it and we decided to try our hand at it. We studied the videos from Japan to get an idea of a course lay-out, posted up in Bamarides about it, found a parking lot, and put one on.
 It was a big hit with several of our fellow Bamarides members. The group talked about it and we decided to do it again. It sort of took a life of its own.  ;D
 From the beginning we made the decision to focus on the rider training aspect. We have never charged for any event that we have put on.  Anyone on 2 wheels are welcomed.
 As to be expected, several of the members have gotten very good at Gymkhana and do compete with each other on a friendly bases. This has brought back up the subject of formal competitions in addition to the rider training. Any information regarding insurance and liabilities would be appreciated like Dredman has mentioned.

 Thanks for joining the forum and we look forward to your contributions.

Alabama / GP8 @ Big #1
« on: August 02, 2013, 01:17:04 AM »
 The Alabama chapter of AMGRASS was invited over to a local dealer, Big #1, to give a demonstration of Gymkhana. Do to limited parking lot space a GP8 course was laid out. Fun times were had, some lies got told, hamburgers and hot dogs got ate, and a few cones were killed.  :)

 If you ride long enough you will ride in the rain. Might as well train in the rain too.!  :)

Good on you for not cancelling and good on the riders that showed.  ;)
